The opportunity

What if HOTO were to design an IR Thermometer? What brand values might they bring to this product category, and how would this product be designed to be more sustainable?

The approach

We were tasked to analyze a brand and apply its brand language on an already existing product platform, which shaped a majority of the design decisions and outcomes. 

A big focus was also placed on learning more about plastic production, and how each part would be molded and fit together.

The solution

The outcome is an exploration of Hoto´s design language; the design is designed to be disassembled and repaired to increase the lifespan of the product and make it more sustainable. 

Connectivity was also added to the platform to bring the product into a higher segment and be better targeted towards Hoto´s intended tech-savvy and modern userbase.

Designed to be disassembled.

In order to cut time when disassembling and repairing the product, the internal structure has been designed to make all the components easily accessible.

Easy access to the battery

The "core" holds the inner components for easy access 

Hoto is about modern tools for a modern consumer.

So I decided to add Bluetooth connectivity giving a low tech platform a more hightech perseption and perceived value,  in line with their intended target group.
